Acle Double Cup Success

Since September this year Acle High school, FITC and the Norwich City Study Centre have worked together to improve the skills of 12 pupils through the Double club scheme.

The Double Club scheme works both on practical skills through coaching sessions held at the school for an hour a week, and improvements in key skills for the classroom through interactive sessions from tutors in the Study Centre.

The classroom sessions use the power of football through inspirational resources such as Matchday programmes, Match photos, and highlights of recent Norwich City games, as well as using the resources housed in the Study Centre and Carrow Road stadium.

The Acle High Pupils have been working on a storybook idea using themselves as characters and using Carrow Road as the background to their story, this has tested their photographic skills, and IT skills to put the storybook together.

Effort, achievement and teamwork are rewarded by Golden Goals and the pupil from all participating school with the highest score at the end of the season can win some exciting prizes.

Joe Harvey FITC coach who has been working with the Acle Pupils said " Each child has shown great enthusiasm during the weekly sessions, and both the boys and girls have shown an improvement in their basic movement skills as well as learning about technical football skills.

Paul Wickens Study Centre Double Club Co-ordinator said " we see the double club as an exciting intervention initiative that can inspire young people to engage more fully in their learning"
