Aviva Street Sports successfully kicks off Year 2
In September Aviva Street Sports kicked off its second year with over 100 Children attending weekly football and multi-sports sessions throughout our 6 venues at Fiddlewood, Jubilee Park, Powerleague 5 a side centre, Lionwood Infants School, Jenny Lind and Heartseases Towers.
With the continued support of all our partners involved Aviva, Football In The Community, Sports Partnership Around Norwich (SPAN), Sports Match and Community Investment Funding the project has continued to grow in its 2nd year.
With the continued growth of the programme we have planned an ‘Aviva Street Sports' celebration day for the young people who have committed to the project and made tremendous progress. The celebration day itself will consist of 2 hours of football coaching at Carrow Park Norwich City Football Club, by Football in the Community coaches, followed by a match day experience with tickets to watch Norwich City Vs Plymouth Argyle.
The project is aimed at building self-confidence and reducing anti-social behaviour through sports; catering for all ages, gender and ability. The project takes place within the heart of local communities, either at local multi use games areas (MUGA) or schools.
Jamie Nielsen Aviva Street Sports Co-ordinator said ‘'To deliver on such a fantastic project where you can visibly see young people progress not only as people but in a variety of different sports is very rewarding for me. To see the smiles on the faces at the end of every session is a clear indicator of how successful the project has become''.
Ian Thornton FITC Director " We are grateful for the support from Aviva, SPAN, Sportsmatch, and Community Investment Funding to allow the Street Sports programme to grow and develop over the last two years, and we hope all the partners and participants enjoy the celebration day"
