Kickz JFO kids give back to the community...
The Kickz Project which launched in September 2008, has seen huge results in Cobholm with regards to levels of participation, anti-social behaviour and crime reduction, which have been backed by police statistics.
Through the project 15 young people attended the Junior Football Organisers camp held at Cliff Park High School during the February Half Term. Aged between 14 and 18 years the students will use their new qualifications to coach on Mini Kickz and Kickz to further their skills.
Gavin Coe FITC Social Inclusion Development Officer said " Kickz has had a massive effect on many of the children that attend. Credit must go to the 15 children that gave up their own time during the February Half Term to further their development as football coaches. Their attitutde and commitment was fantastic. The young people will now be giving up their own time again to help assist the coaches at Kickz to pick up more skills and to give back to their local community which is brilliant, and really demonstrate how far these people and the project has travelled in such a short space of time. "
The Norfolk FA ran the course for the Kickz Project and their tutor Darren Moss was pleased with the attitude of his new students. " We were able to get to work quickly with this group, they all demonstrated confidence, enabling them to pass th course."
The Kickz project runs 3 evenings per week for 48 weeks of the year and not only provides football coaching and competitions, but offers a range of other positive activities including basketball, street dance, boxing as well as music and arts workshops. Developmental and educational sessions are also run, dealing with issues such as healthy lifestyles, the dangers of getting involved with drugs and carrying weapons.
To get involved with the project, come down to (The Cage) at Cobholm on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's between 5-7pm. Or alternatively you can contact the Kickz Co-ordinator on 01603 761122 or by email fitc@ncfc-canaries.co.uk.
