Norwich Kickz represented in the ‘It Doesn’t Have To Happen’ Tournament …

The Kickz Project was launched in Cobholm in September 2008, has seen huge results in he local area with regards to levels of participation, anti-social behaviour and crime reduction, which have been backed by police statistics.

Through the project 10 young people were selected on their behaviour and attendance to represent Norwich City Kickz in a regional "It Doesn't Have To Happen' tournament held at West Ham's Training Ground. The tournament is a national campaign being delivered through the Kickz projects at various Communities Schemes up and down the country.

Gavin Coe FITC Social Inclusion Development Officer said " Kickz has had a massive effect on many of the young people that attend. Credit must go to the 10 lads that gave up their own time during the Easter Half Term to further their development as footballers. Their attitutde and commitment was fantastic. "

The Kickz project runs 3 evenings per week for 48 weeks of the year and not only provides football coaching and competitions, but offers a range of other positive activities including basketball, street dance, boxing as well as music and arts workshops. Developmental and educational sessions are also run, dealing with issues such as healthy lifestyles, the dangers of getting involved with drugs and carrying weapons.

To get involved with the project, come down to Cobholm (The Cage) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 5-7pm. Or alternatively you can contact the Kickz Co-ordinator on 01603 761122 or by email fitc@ncfc-canaries.co.uk
