School Case Study

Case Study-Robert Kett Junior School

FITC were approached by Robert Kett Junior School – Norfolk, 2004 to investigate the feasibility of utilising FITC qualified Multi Sports coaches to cover 10% of teachers PPA time. After understanding the needs of the school the following was undertaken in September 2005.

  • Key Stage 2 Games for Yr 3, 4 and 5
  • 5 FITC coaches deliver games lessons to a total of 20 classes during one full day for one academic year
  • All year groups receive games lessons for 1hr
  • Winter Term – Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey and Orienteering
  • Summer Term – Rounders, Cricket, High Jump / Long Jump, Short Tennis and Stool Ball
  • Healthy Kicking activities on wet days due to lack of indoor facilities
  • Assessment and reporting on every child

Robert Kett explored a number of options with regards to providing PPA time. Our key requirement was to provide a model that would ensure a quality standard of provision. We are now at a stage, after approaching FITC, where we will be fully implemented their School Sports Programme in September 2004. Together with FITC we are very pleased the School Sports Programme has proved to be both beneficial and successful for our school.
