Broadland Housing Association Football Project

FITC are pleased to be working in partnership with Broadland Housing Association and Neatherd High School to provide a series of free football coaching sessions for children aged 6-14 years old.

The brand new "Broadland Housing Community Football Sessions", funded by Broadland Housing, will comprise a total of 20 weeks of free coaching during 2007 and will be delivered by 18 young people who have been trained by FITC through the FA Junior Football Organisers course and local coaches who have received Level One bursaries along with FITC qualified coaches.

The coaching sessions will take place at Neatherd High School between May and November 2007. The first block will be on grass from May to July and the second block will run from September to November in Neatherd High School's Sports Hall.

Commenting on the partnership with Broadland Housing, FITC Director Ian Thornton said: "We are delighted that Broadland Housing has provided this funding which now enables us to extend the community football resources we currently provide in Norfolk to the community of Dereham. The coaching sessions we deliver are based on a combination of structured coaching and fun games in a safe learning environment. Our experience shows that the young people who have access to our sessions elsewhere, achieve a great deal from them and this benefits all sections of the community. I'd also like to thank Neatherd High School for providing the location for these sessions to take place."

Michael Newey, Chief Executive of Broadland Housing added: "Young people are a vital part of our communities and we are delighted to be working with FITC and Neatherd High School to deliver a resource like this that will help young people develop their skills and broaden their experiences. This project is part of Broadland's overall objective to provide more facilities for young people in the areas where we operate. This project in particular demonstrates our strong commitment to Dereham, where a high number of Broadland Housing residents with young children live and who we hope will benefit from this new programme of activities."

The first block of FITC sessions will take place on Mondays between 5pm - 6pm from 14th May - 16th July 2007 and is free for 9 weeks.
