Horsford Junior School win area final of the Schools Cup

Horsford Junior School beat off all opposition to win the area final of the Schools Cup held at Carrow Park, Norwich City FC.  In a tense final Horsford Junior school overcame a strong Sheringham Primary School side two-nil.  Horsford will now go on to represent Norwich City FC at the national finals scheduled to be held at Leyton Orient on Friday, April 23.

The Schools cup is a unique mixed 5-a-side football competition for pupils at under-11 (years 5/6) level, with the girls playing the first half of the match and the boys playing the second half.  Each match lasts five minutes each way.

Commenting on the tournament Alan Day, General Manager of the Mall Norwich and Schools Sports Programme Premier Partner said: "It is good to see so many children taking part in sport.  I am delighted the girls have the same opportunities as the boys.  Horsford Junior School have thoroughly deserved their victory and I wish them luck in the forthcoming national final".
