Norwich Union Street Sports Kicks Off

With the sponsorship support from Norwich Union alongside a pro-active partnership with SPAN (Sports Partnership Around Norwich) and Sports-Match we are pleased to announce the introduction of our brand new "Street Sports" initiative.

Norwich Union Street Sports will affect over 300 children per week. The program is also linked to the FITC / Norwich Union Match Nights Programme. The Match nights program provides skill based evening coaching sessions based at Thorpe St. Andrew School, Cliff Park High School, Taverham High School on Friday evenings. So if you want that ‘Friday night Football'' experience make contact with us now. The program will aim to encourage young people from deprived and non-deprived areas an opportunity to be involved in a safe, fun, learning environment.

The Norwich Union Street Sports activities will be ‘informal / drop in' football, multi sports and SAQ (Speed, Agility and Quickness) sessions, based in the heart of deprived communities using local facilities that the young people feel comfortable attending. By providing free diversionary activities the session will help to prevent anti-social behaviour, reduce criminal activity, build a sense of community pride and increase the health of young people. There is also the potential for Norwich City Players, or other sports stars to visit the venues to provide additional coaching and inspiration to the young players.

We are very grateful for the continued financial support from both Norwich Union and SPAN. Norwich Union continue to be very active and supportive in many community programs based at the Norwich City FC. SPAN bring a high degree of expertise and local knowledge to help deliver this excellent initiative to the local community. It is appropriate to thank Sports-Match for their continued support to various programs we have deliver too.

The FITC Social Inclusion program now has two excellent programs in   "Street Life- Soccer'' and ‘'Street Sports'' that are sure to have a very positive impact on the local communities in which they are delivered.
